REALITY BITES LITERARY NONFICTION FESTIVAL

The main program of SHWC is Reality Bites - an annual event focussing on nonfiction writing and introducing local audiences to Australia's best writers and other industry professionals. The festival is run on a voluntary basis and produced with funding sourced from government grants and significant in-kind support.

From 2010 the main festival went biennial, and in the alternate years we present a writer's and reader's weekend, Reality Writes. The Reality Bites Festival will occur in even years and the Reality Writes weekend in odd years.

REALITY WRITES READER'S AND WRITER'S WEEKEND - ODD YEARS

The 2011 event focussed on the art of writing, with sessions about craft and workshops aimed at a range of skill levels for youth and adult writers and readers.

We will have more of our popular pitching clinics so, if you missed out last year, get cracking on your pitch for 2012.

The green banner on the right will take you to the website. Join our mailing list to stay informed of other SHWC events.

Reality Writes aims to:

  • Build local writers' skills
  • Source and promote forthcoming books by local authors for inclusion in the festival
  • Expand the horizons of readers of nonfiction
  • Encourage active involvement in the development and running of the programs.
